Ich mache mir meinen eigenen BOM - I will make my own BOM

Diesen Entschluss habe ich letztes Wochenende in Karlsruhe gefasst, nachdem ich auch nach mehrstündigem Suchen nach einem "schnellen" Projekt nicht fündig wurde.
Allerdings habe ich wunderschöne Stoffe mitgebracht, die in diesem eigenen Entwurf verarbeitet werden sollen.
Zunächst werde ich jedoch noch eine Weile am Kompass-Quilt weiternähen, der langsam aber sicher eine etwas andere Gestalt anzunehmen scheint. Seht selbst...
This is the decision I made while visiting a quilt and needlework  fair last weekend. Even after hours I couldn´t find a "fast" project that I really liked. Instead of compromising about a bad alternative I bought some really wonderful, inspiring fabric which will probably make it quite easy to come up with an own design. But first I will spend another while on continuing the compass quilt which seems to take a quite different shape. Have a look...

An dieser Stelle hätte ich Euch nur zu gerne weitere Fotos der Decke und meinen Gewinn bei Carin gezeigt, aber das Blogger Programm streikt. Weiß vielleicht jemand von Euch, woran es liegt, dass sich keine Bilder mehr hochladen lassen?
Am Freitag starten die Kinder und ich den Abschiedsquilt  für ihre Lehrerin. Sowohl vom Muster als auch von den Farben her wird das für mich was ganz Untypisches werden. Ich bin schon sehr gespannt und freue mich auf den Spaß, den wir in den kommenden Wochen haben werden.
Ich hoffe, dass das Programm dann wieder funktioniert und ich Euch berichten kann. Habt eine gute Zeit,
Well, I would´ve loved to show some further pictures of the quilt and of what I won on Carin´s blog but somehow Blogger doesn´t manage to upload the fotos.
Next Friday the kids and I will start working on the fare well quilt for their teacher. I really look forward to the fun we will definitely have while playing with colorful fabric and fabric colors. I hope I will then be able to post some fotos again. Have a great week,

Hier liegt er nun - Well, there it is...

mein erster Miniteppich. Leider sieht er auf den Fotos nicht so schön aus wie in echt. Wie immer habe ich sehr warme, ruhige Farben gewählt, die in Wirklichkeit aber viel intensiver sind als die Bilder vermuten lassen. Um den Hintergrund auszufüllen musste ich noch eine ganze Menge Wollstoff nachkaufen und färben. Insgesamt sind fast 2 Quadratmeter Stoff in diesem winzigen, gerade mal 45cm x 60cm großen Ding verarbeitet. Auch wenn ich nun vorerst eine "Hooking"-Pause einlegen werde, freue ich mich jetzt schon auf das nächste Wollprojekt - ein Herbstmotiv mit Eichhörnchen und Eicheln, Blättern und Kürbissen...
my first mini rug. Unfortunately the warm and calm colors don´t come out as bright on the pictures as they actually are. I had to buy some extra fabric for the background as hooking somehow seems to eat it all up, doesn´t it? At a size of 45cm x 60cm I, approximately used 2 square yards of fabric. Is this normal? Now I´m already looking forward to the next hooking project for autumn - a squirrel with an acorn, some leaves and pumpkins.

Zu viele Baustellen - too many sites at the same time

Dafür, dass ich überhaupt kein Freund von UFOs bin, habe ich im Moment einfach zu viele Projekte am Start und im Kopf. Das Problem dabei ist, dass keine der Arbeiten richtige Fortschritte zu machen scheint. Am meisten leidet darunter der Kompass-Quilt, der übrigens kleiner als geplant ausfallen muss, weil es einfach nicht mehr genug von dem Hintergrundstoff gab um 13 Blöcke damit einzufassen.
Regarding the fact, that I hate UFOs, I´m currently working at too many sites at the same time. The problem is, that nothing seems to make real progress. Least does the compass quilt that had to be planned a little smaller as I couldn´t get enough background fabric to border 13 blocks.

Wennn die Blumenranke rundherum fertig ist - also in etwa 4-5 Jahren - soll als Rand das Motiv des Kompass wieder aufgegriffen werden.
After the flower appliquee will be completed - in about 4-5 years - I would like to pick up the compass theme for the border, again.

Rug Hooking hat ein fast noch größeres Suchtpotenzial als Nähen und Quilten. Ähnlich wie beim Needle Punching scheint das Ganze aber auch kein Ende nehmen zu wollen. 
Rug hooking is almost more addicting than sewing and quilting...although, quite similar to needle punching, it doesn´t seem to ever get finished.

Als der Quiltrahmen wegen Überbeanspruchung völlig auseinanderbrach und ich außerdem ein paar der Wollstoffe für den Hintergrund neu einfärben musste, habe ich mir für abends eine andere Beschäftigung gesucht. Das Stickmotiv stammt von Little House Needleworks. Bestellt habe ich es bei Casa Cenina - ein, wenn Ihr mich fragt, Paradies für eine jede von uns.

After my quilting frame had a nervous - ah,... no, that was me - breakdown and I had overdyed some fabric for the background I had to look for a different pastime for the evenings. The stitching pattern is from Little House Needleworks.

In der kommenden Woche muss ich dringend ein paar Glückwunschkarten zur Kommunion basteln. Ausserdem fällt diesen Monat der Startschuss für den Abschiedsquilt für Jakobs Grunschullehrerin. Ich freue mich jetzt schon unheimlich darauf, mit ihm und seinen Klassenkameraden zu werkeln.
Next week I will have to craft some greeting cards for the kids in the village who will have their First Holy Communion. And I will also start with the fare-well quilt for Jacob´s primary school teacher, this month.
I look forward to the workshops with the kids, which I will hold at our place. I love to see children´s faces when they create....

Fertig - Finished

Ich hatte schon befürchtet, bis zum letzten Tag meines Lebens an diesem Punch Needle Projekt arbeiten zu müssen. Es schien einfach kein Ende zu nehmen. Doch nun, nach etlichen Stunden des Punchens und gefühlten 100 Döckchen Stickgarn, die das Ding verschluckt hat, ist es endlich fertig.
Zwischendurch zeitweise ziemlich frustriert - zumal ich zunächst gar nicht wusste, was daraus mal werden soll -  bin ich mit dem Ergebnis recht zufrieden.
To be honest I, sometimes was a little afraid I would have to punch until the last day of my life. I punched and punched and it didn´t seem to come to an end. It was a little frustrating, especially because I didn´t have any idea what to make out of it ... if I would ever manage to finish it. Well, what should I say - it IS finished and I´m quite content with the result. What do you punchers out there think? Don´t be too cruel... remember that it is my very first punch neddle and primitive project.

Bis jetzt ist es einfach nur ein Deckchen. Sollte ich aber irgendwann mal zu dem Shaker Schaukelstuhl kommen, den ich mir schon seit Jahren wünsche, wird daraus ein Kissen.
Until now it is only some kind of table mat. But if I should ever get this shaker rocking chair that I have been dreaming of since years it will become a pillow one day.

Dann ist gestern noch eine Buchülle zur Erstkommunion des Sohnes meiner Sandkastenfreundin fertig geworden. "Ich bin das Licht des Lebens" wird auch das Motiv der Feier sein
This is a book cover that I made for my friend´s son who will have his First Holy Communion in April.  It says " I am the Light of the World". I chose this motiv according to the invitation card I got last week.

Und last but not least ein paar Siebenmeilenstiefelchen für unseren kleinen Neffen - zu Ostern. (Burda-Schnittmuster)
And last but not least a pair of seven league booties for our little baby nephew. (Burda template)

Obwohl die Zeit vor Ostern bei uns immer mit Terminen vollgepackt ist - Solidaritätsmarsch, Klepperaktion der Messdiener, Gemeinschaftstage der Kinder mit ihren Jahrgangskollegen etc. - bin ich bereits vollerVorfreude auf´s Fest. Ich hoffe, Euch geht es ebenso.
Although  the time before Easter is always quite busy in our family - we are engaged in several church activities - I´m full of anticipation of the feast. I hope, so are you.

Dann habe ich, soweit mein Vorrat an Stickgarn es erlaubt hat, an dem Punch Needle Projekt weitergearbeitet...
I also continued the punch needle project - as far as I ran out of thread...

Obwohl dieses Schränckchen beim absoluten Schnäppchenkauf knallrot war, habe ich gleich das Osterdeko-Potenzial darin erkannt. Letzte Woche bekam es endlich einen neuen Anstrich - und jetzt passt es auch ins Gesamtkonzept.
To go well together with the rest of the easter decoration I first sanded and then painted this - formerly red - little cabinet in a vintage green.

Um dem angekündigten Winterwiedereinbruch zu trotzen habe ich gestern noch schnell einen neuen Türkranz gewickelt. So haben wir den Frühling - zumindest symbolhaft - vor der Tür.
The weather forcast says that winter will be back this week. Well, just in case we could forget what time of the year it really is, I put this spring wreath on the front door, yesterday. I´m just so fed up with that d... cold.
